My Birthday Luau!

Last night I had a few friends over to help me celebrate my 21st birthday this coming Tuesday, with a Rockin’ Luau! Here are a couple of photos from my party [complete with loot bags!]

To help decorate the indoors, I blew up 30 or so orange, pink, and yellow balloons. We also draped flower leis over everything, and bought a couple of 3D pineapples.

To help decorate outside, I borrowed some inflatable palm trees from friends and family. The one in the foreground was a huge cooler! We also opened the pool for anyone who felt like taking a dip. [many did, and one even left me a $10 tip in the filter this morning!

We decorated the table with LED candles, a hula table skirt, and laid out a bunch of stuff for guests, including: hula skirts, coconut bras, coconut and tiki cups, drink umbrellas, stir sticks and straws, and fresh fruit wheels and wedges.

For snacking, I baked vanilla 'Island' cupcakes. The palm trees were handmade with fondant,& the ocean was a white chocolate poured fondant. Unfortunately it was humid yesterday, so the frosting started to slip and melt a bit. We also served regular old snack food like nachos, chips,& tequila jello shooters (in red, yellow, and orange) with gummi worms in them. You know, regular stuff.

In addition to all of the tableware, we also purchased some tiki torches to help light the dark, and keep the mosquitoes away. Jon is playing beachbaseball in the background.

In the loot bags, which we handed to everyone as they arrived, were 3 flower leis, a hibiscus shot glass in a random color, and a bunch of rainbow candy, like nerds and lollis. Ben is modelling a coconut bra and skirt, which floated from person to person all night.
